About the recipe

This is a quick, fresh summer recipe. The sauce is made without cooking, just for the time it takes to boil the pasta. The flavor of an ordinary pasta, generously garnished with strawberry-cream sauce is extraordinary, but also a true legend for an entire generation of Poles.

Products:

  • 200 - 250 g Mr.Apettini penne

  • 500 g fresh strawberries (50 g are needed for decoration)

  • 4-5 tablespoons honey; can be replaced with granulated, superfine or brown sugar or maple syrup

  • 200 g (1 cup) sour cream (can be replaced with thick natural yogurt )

  • 150 g condensed milk

  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract; optional

  • 4-5 fresh mint leaves

Method of preparation:

  1. Rinse the strawberries thoroughly under cold running water. Pat dry with paper towels.

  2. Remove the green stems from the strawberries, cut them in half and discard the green parts. Set aside a few strawberries for garnish.

  3. Transfer the halved berries to a bowl. Add the honey, sour cream and vanilla extract. Mash together with a fork.

  4. For a varied texture, mash only roughly - leaving some pieces unmash. For a smooth sauce, mash thoroughly or use a blender/food processor.

    Serving

    1. Spread the pasta among pretty plates. Pour the sauce over the pasta. Serve immediately or let cool and serve cold.

    2. Before serving, garnish with sliced fresh strawberries, mint leaves and almonds.
